Teresa, very well done with your great first speech in Parliament. However experienced you were before becoming an MP, it must still be nerve-wracking to stand-up in the House of Commons for the first time, but you spoke well and made very good points. Not just about Erith & Thamesmead and Crossrail, but also why we all need Sure Start and the Future Jobs Programme to be continued. We can hope that the Tories will sense and continue to support these initiatives but it’ll probably need Labour campaigners like you to push them all the way.
Well done for a great start and please keep up this good work for all of us who don’t have a trust fund like the Tories. Cheers, Claire
Apologies for not having commented on this earlier, but have only just found. I would also like to add my congratulations on a very good maiden speech, and as one of your constituents I hope to see many more. I broadly agree with your comments and sentiments, although I believe that due to the current economic climate there needs to be constructive comment by the opposition and not just sniping. Good luck for the future. Ian
